ABOUT

About

COSYS Ltd aims to disseminate multiphoton designs and other DIY/open-source technologies to neuroscience labs all over the world. Many great designs get published and the dissemination route isn't always obvious.

Outside of work, I am a dedicated father to my young daughters. I particularly enjoy road running and have competed in half, full and ultra-marathons, including the world's oldest and largest ultra-marathon, South Africa's Comrades Marathon (87 kilometres).

Background

2007

After completing a PhD in Pharmaceutics at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, in 2007, I moved to the UK to join Scientifica Ltd as a Product Specialist.

2009

In 2009, I was awarded a Royal Society Industry Fellowship for a collaborative project between Scientifica and University College London. During this project, I built my first custom-designed two-photon microscope in Jesper Sjöström's lab.

2011

In 2011, I started and managed the Multiphoton Sales Team at Scientifica.

2014

In 2014, I was made Scientifica's Engineering and R&D Manager and by early 2016 I was promoted to Scientifica's Senior Management Team. While at Scientifica, I contributed to the development of products such as the Hyperscope, Chromoflex and MDU XL.

2017

In 2017, I started designing custom multiphoton systems with INSS Ltd for a number of neuroscience labs.

2019

COSYS Ltd was then established in 2019.
